What you will be doing
As our Architectural Investigator in the London & South East Historic Places Regeneration Team, you will investigate, research and assess aspects of the historic environment, with an emphasis on buildings and the built environment. You will gather, analyse and interpret research material and field data and disseminate the findings in order to inform the protection and management of the historic environment in support of Historic England’s Strategic Plan. You will work flexibly across regional boundaries to meet research needs as required.
Who we are looking for
- High-standard academic or professional qualification in architectural history, buildings archaeology or a related subject, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrable experience of investigating, analysing and interpreting the historic fabric of buildings
- Experience of working on projects relating to the built environment and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Broad knowledge of architectural history and history in general, with a specialism in one or more subject areas
- High-standard research skills and knowledge of research sources, both online and in person (libraries, archives, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in writing
