It had been left after a service one day, and a decade later everything was still in the same place when I visited. Your favourite place? I love to go back again and again to Saltburn-by-the-Sea. It is such a perfect small Victorian resort town. Your favourite book? For a short read, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. For something longer, something by SarahWaters such as Fingersmith. I recently really enjoyed The Outrun by Amy Liptrot. What do you do in your spare time? Heritage takes up quite a lot of my spare time, visiting places and volunteering with the City of Nottingham Historic Buildings Trust and Sheffield Historic Buildings Trust. Buildings Trust. Away from heritage I love sport, and find it a great way to socialise and visit places. I play football and am a massive Manchester City fan, so I was really excited by theWomen’s Euros that happened within walking distance of me in Sheffield. What organisations are you a member of? Obviously the IHBC. Also the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and the Heritage Trust Network. I need to renew my membership of the Twentieth Century Society. Which one issue would you particularly like the IHBC to campaign on? Equality, diversity and inclusion are important issues for me. The diversity of the IHBC is not currently representative of the places where we work. Having all perspectives within the delivery of advice and heritage projects makes sure that we can create an inclusive built environment, that all voices are heard and that everyone can enjoy heritage as much as us. I have been part of setting up an equality, diversity and inclusion working group in the IHBC. It is working to promote diversity, and give advice and training on how to make inclusive spaces in the built environment.
