It is a perfect place to take my dog for a walk and it contains a pub in a stone circle. What’s not to like? Your favourite book? Again, something that regularly changes, but I have just finished East West Street by Phillipe Sands. It is a fascinating story of the Nuremberg trials, told from a unique, deeply personal perspective. What do you do in your spare time? Keeping my spaniel entertained takes up a lot of time, with long walks in the countryside in Wiltshire where I live, or back in North Devon where I grew up. Anything related to sport also goes down well. What organisations are you a member of? I am currently a (not particularly active) member of the C20 Society and various sports groups. Which one issue would you particularly like the IHBC to campaign on? Cooperation across the broad range of heritage specialists is the key. At a time of sadly ever-diminishing public-sector specialists, voluntary organisations and the private sector have become increasingly important. It is vital that we continue to work across these different areas to ensure the conservation of our built heritage, in terms of both raising awareness and day-to-day decision-making in planning.
