‘Local government Brexit preparedness’ out from England’s MHCLG

Parliament website Brexit image 031117Guidance from government to assist local authority ‘preparedness for exiting’ the European Union (EU) has been issued by England’s Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.

MHCLG writes:

Local government is critical to delivering a successful Brexit. To support this, £20 million extra funding for local authorities to support their Brexit preparations was announced on 3 August 2019 following previous commitments of over £50 million.

A network of 9 local authority chief executives from across England has been established to engage with councils in their regions to share information on their Brexit preparations.

Each council has also been asked to appoint a Brexit Lead Officer to work with central government and local services, businesses and residents in their area to plan intensively for Brexit….
