Cadw’s much-loved historic attractions are expected to welcome thousands of visitors during September 2019 as part of Open Doors — the largest heritage festival in Wales.
Thousands of people will step back in time during September 2019 as Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, opens the doors to more than 25 of its sites in care across Wales, including several that are not normally open to the public. Part of the wider European Heritage Days programme, Open Doors has seen hundreds of Welsh venues offer free entry, activities and events throughout September.
This year Cadw is celebrating the range and breadth of its sites in care which form part of Wales’s national collection of monuments, offering expert tours at some of its unstaffed monuments; opening sites which are normally closed; and opening up areas that visitors do not normally get to see as part of Visit Wales’s ‘Year of Discovery’. Being outdoors and taking part in outdoor activities has significant health benefits and Cadw encourages the people of Wales and visitors to enjoy even more Cadw sites during this year’s Open Doors festival in September 2019.
