Planning Awards 2019 open, includes award for ‘best use of heritage…’ – deadline 24 Jan!

website graphicThe 2019 Planning Awards have been launched, with categories including an award for ‘best use of heritage in placemaking’ among 25 linked categories.

Planning and Placemaking Resource write:

The Awards recognise excellence in both planning and placemaking. This means that, as well as recognising outstanding professional planning work, they also reward excellence in planning-related activities such as placemaking, urban design, economic development, housing, regeneration, legal advice and environmental consulting.

Submissions are invited across 25 categories. Entry involves completing a short online entry form for assessment by the expert judging panel.

The awards ceremony itself, which brings together professionals across the industry for a night of both celebration and networking, will take place at a prestigious central London venue. The ceremony for the 2018 awards was held at Savoy Place, overlooking the River Thames….

Award for best use of heritage in placemaking
This award will go to the entry that best demonstrates how a project, plan or organisation has used a place or community’s heritage in a way that has improved, or is likely to improve, the physical or environmental quality of the place or the economic or social well-being of the community. To be eligible, a scheme must either involve the conservation/preservation of historic buildings or a wider area, or in other ways capitalise on the history of a place and/or community….
