The Scottish Council on Archives (SCA) is consulting with users of archive and public records services on plans for a new portal to ‘bring together catalogues from across the country in one place and be a user-friendly’, with the survey closing 22 June.
The SCA writes:
As part of a scoping exercise around the development of a new web portal for Scottish archive collections the Scottish Council on Archives is consulting with users of archive and public records services.
The new portal will provide a national online resource and search tool that offers comprehensive access to Scotland’s archive catalogues. The new portal will bring together catalogues from across the country in one place and be a user-friendly facility that will enrich research and make links between collections. The project will improve the level of information about items in collections, and provide more opportunities for engagement with both physical and virtual records.
We are seeking the views and experiences of users of archive services including local and family historians, researchers, academics, students and genealogists. If this of interest to you I would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete the short online questionnaire at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/LYVP3/ or alternatively pass it on any of your contacts or members.
