The PRONI writes:
The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland is hosting an exhibition relating to Young and Mackenzie, the Belfast-based architectural and civil engineering practice, from 7th June to 29th June 2018. This exhibition will be launched with a lecture entitled ‘Northern Lights –a century of design by Young & Mackenzie Architects’ by Dr Harron on Thursday 7th June at 1pm.
Young and Mackenzie was established in the early 1850s and by the beginning of the 20th century it was the most successful practice in Belfast. They were the leading architects for the Presbyterian church in Ulster and also received some of the most important commercial commissions in Belfast including those for the Scottish Provident and Ocean Buildings on Donegall Square, Belfast. The exhibition is curated by Dr Paul Harron, author of Architects in Ulster: Young & Mackenzie, a transformational provincial practice, 1850-1960.
PRONI holds the extensive archive of Young and Mackenzie (catalogue reference number D2194). The exhibition features some of the uncatalogued drawings within the collection which are currently in the early stages of conservation. Once this has been completed, the drawings will be added to the PRONI catalogue.
PRONI does not require you to print your ticket.
