Hutton + Rostron: Construction Defect Surveyor and Remedial Design Consultant

H+R are seeking experienced construction and design professionals to join our multi-disciplinary team.

H+R are specialist independent building surveyors and Building Pathologists employing professionally qualified individuals from a range of disciplines as building survey and defect investigation staff, allowing a wide knowledge base from multiple disciplines to provide added benefits and value to our clients.  We investigate all manner of building defects and always aim to identify the root cause of problems and provide guidance and recommendations for effective risk management; aimed at preventing future problems and protecting the capital value of the property concerned.

H+R have long standing experience in providing specialist building material condition investigations in historic and period buildings throughout the UK, and the Company was appointed to assist with recovery and reinstatement works after the fire at Windsor Castle in 1992.  Increasingly however, we are asked to investigate problems affecting contemporary buildings and structures, to identify design detailing problems and other failures arising from defective workmanship, specification and site processes.  These projects often include appraisals of innovative materials and forms of construction, to develop an understanding of the risks associated with their use and support the development of remedial design proposals and strategies.

We continue to innovate and pride ourselves on working at the ‘sharp end’ of the industry; providing value added support to the project team. H+R have developed minimally invasive and non- destructive surveying techniques, suitable for high-value new or historic buildings, or properties where disruption of occupancy needs to be minimised. We are always on the lookout for new technology and ideas to develop for the investigation and conservation of historic and contemporary structures.

H+R list many of the major heritage organisations, developers, contractors, insurers and commercial property managers as clients, as well as private owners.  We enjoy an excellent reputation amongst fellow industry professionals such as Architects, Project Managers and Structural Engineers as well as Historic England and Historic Environment Scotland
