Gloucester City Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council: Heritage Engagement Officer

£26,511 – £29,577 (F)
Fixed term until 31st March 2022
Location: Shire Hall, Gloucester and Tewkesbury Borough Council Offices

Gloucester City Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council have secured Government funding to create a Local Heritage List. The List will identify heritage assets not protected by national designation, which have special local architectural or historic interest. Buildings, structures and archaeological sites or parks and gardens could be included. The post holder will work closely with local heritage groups and residents to create a List for each area.

We are looking for someone with recent experience of engagement, consultation and training amongst communities and volunteers. You should have a strong interest in heritage and conservation. You should have good IT skills as the role will include report writing and delivering presentations.

The City Council wants its employees to have a positive work:life balance. We actively encourage home working when it is possible to do so and working flexible hours that blend the needs of the job with personal circumstances.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in heritage in Gloucester and Tewkesbury, and to work with communities to identify and protect the historic assets of the two areas.
