Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB): Assistant Support Officer – Church Historic Buildings

£19,000 – £25,000 pa pr (depending on qualifications and experience)
0.4 – 0.6 FTE (FT hours are 35 per week), fixed-term until end 2021
Home-working or option to be based at offices in Didcot, Oxfordshire
(Currently BUGB is following Government guidelines and staff are working from home but the offices should reopen during 2021).

Baptists Together are looking for a part-time Assistant Support Officer to join the Church Historic Buildings Support Officer in delivering the Baptist Heritage Property Initiative, funded by Historic England.

Key deliverables in the next phase of the Initiative include:

  • Continued administration of the Quinquennial Inspections Grants Scheme
  • Further development of the Baptist Listed Buildings Database
  • Resource creation for churches including guidance on maintenance and fund-raising

The Assistant Support Officer will be highly involved in the creation of communications in a variety of media for the dissemination of information about the project and support available to churches. They should be comfortable handling enquiries and confident in the skills required for gathering and processing information relating to listed Baptist Chapels. Training will be provided in all aspects of the role.

The post would suit a recent graduate of a heritage-related subject, early career conservation professional or someone with a particular interest in Baptist history or non-conformist architecture with the necessary skills to meet the particulars of role.
