Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk: King’s Lynn High Street Heritage Action Zone Project Officer

up to £40,383 pa starting salary
Fixed Term Contract to 31 March 2024
Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn

Join our team and help restore and revitalise the High Street of King’s Lynn as part of our wider ambitions set out in the ‘Vision King’s Lynn’ Town Investment Plan.

The King’s Lynn High Street Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) project will look to restore and improve the appearance of the High Street and Norfolk Street by encouraging local property owners to take up grants for historic shop front restoration and to bring upper floors back into use for residential accommodation. It will ensure that the community feels a sense of ownership, an ability to influence the future of their local high street and to participate in an expanding cultural programme.

You will effectively manage the development and implementation of the King’s Lynn High Street HAZ within agreed scope, timescales and budget, manage a multi-disciplinary delivery team, prepare progress and monitoring reports, undertake a comprehensive stakeholder engagement programme, and advocate the importance of good quality design principles in residential, mixed-use, leisure and public realm developments.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of regeneration / development initiatives with excellent project management skills, experience of working in the built environment and the ability to understand a wide range of policy and planning legislation including enforcement powers.  You will manage your own workload as well as be an active and supportive team member in a demanding role that operates across council departments and within a multi-agency context and deadline driven environment. Also, you must be able to establish, maintain and develop professional and effective working relationships with a wide range of partners, statutory agencies and stakeholders.
