We are currently recruiting for a High Street Heritage Action Zone Project Officer to successfully implement the delivery of the High Street Heritage Action Zone programme in Chatham in line with Medway’s Programme Design, Historic England’s guidelines, funding requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Medway Council will employ and manage the post holder for the duration of delivery of the project. The post will be funded by Historic England.

The key duties of the postholder will be:

The delivery and the management of all aspects of the Chatham High Street Heritage Action Zone programme (with oversight of and part funded by Historic England) from mobilisation to completion. This will include negotiating and issuing buildings grants and associated programme administration documents, effective project and financial monitoring reporting and evaluation, in accordance with guidance from Historic England, utilising established conservation and heritage expertise, timelines and budget.

Promotion and conservation of key aspects of built heritage by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the historic environment, encouraging sustainable, heritage-led regeneration and utilising heritage to animate place, ensuring alignment with the Medway City of Culture 2025 bid.

Working with internal colleagues and external partners to deliver, monitor and evaluate the key programme workstreams and ensure synergies between them including establishing a Development Framework; a Building Grants Programme, Business Support Project; and ensuring residents, key stakeholders and the Cultural Consortium are engaged via a Community Engagement Plan and Communications Plan

This position will be fixed term until end of March 2024
