Shropshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and appropriately experienced Project Officer to implement the Oswestry High Streets Heritage Action Zone Project (HSHAZ) on behalf of the Future Oswestry Group; an innovative partnership between Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council and the Oswestry Business Improvement District.
The Oswestry HSHAZ project is focused on the principal streets in the town’s Conservation Area, and is a joint funded scheme between the Future Oswestry Group partners and Historic England. As Project Officer, you will engage with building owners to bring physical improvements to buildings of historic and architectural interest, in order to support the economic regeneration of the town centre, and assist in providing community engagement training and activities. You will also manage a grant funding programme to deliver with this initiative.
The post is hosted by Shropshire Council within its Historic Environment Team, which will provide you with excellent opportunities to work collaboratively with a friendly, multi-disciplinary team of historic environment professionals. You will also work in a mobile and agile way with colleagues in the Council’s wider Economic Growth Service, and the partner organisations, to facilitate the delivery of the scheme and support local residents and stakeholders to deliver a programme of community and culture activities.
You will have excellent communication skills and IT skills, demonstrable experience of managing budgets and community engagement, and a sound understanding of the issues relating to the management of the built historic environment. This is a fixed term post until the end of March 2024.
