This is a rare opportunity to join the National Listing & Marine Team at Historic England. As a National Listing Adviser the successful applicant will have a varied caseload combining individual designation casework across the full range of heritage assets as well as managing specific national projects. As part of a small but well regarded team you will also contribute to promoting the work of Historic England and to supporting public engagement leading from our Listing activity.
To be successful in this role, you will have a broad understanding of the range and significance of heritage assets and heritage legislation in England and how to assess information and produce clearly presented reports. You will be comfortable working to deadlines and in planning and managing your workload effectively. Previous experience of managing heritage projects and an understanding of commonly used project management approaches are a distinct advantage.
Home based, you will be required to visit sites across England, often not easily accessible by public transport and sometimes in remote and difficult to access locations. A driving licence is therefore a distinct advantage. You will be equally comfortable working alone, as part of a project team or with a range of internal and external partners and the public.
We offer a wide benefits package including a competitive pension scheme, a generous 28 days holiday, corporate discounts, free entry into English Heritage sites across the county and development opportunities to ensure you achieve your goals. Having just won the Gold Award from MIND, we also recognise the importance of a healthy work -life balance. Therefore, we offer the flexibility in your working day to create a pattern that works for you.
Interviews will be held via Zoom w/c 27th July 2020.
Historic England is an equal opportunity employer which values diversity and inclusion. If you have a disability, we would be happy to discuss reasonable adjustments to the job with you.
