£36,213 – £42,373 FTE pa pr (Band 3 position)
Initial Fixed Term temporary (to support a period of review 12-18months)
3 days (21 hours pw – can be worked flexibly Monday to Friday with agreement. The role requires attendance at monthly DAC meetings.)
The Diocese is incredibly proud of the work and reputation of our DAC, our Churches Team, and the aspirations, motivations and commitments of our church communities to their church buildings.
Together, with Archdeacons and others, we tackle the challenges of maintaining and developing our church buildings, (and over 90% of our 400 churches buildings are listed) for the wider mission of the Church, and as an integral part of our diocesan LIFE vision.
Across 2020 we will be undertaking some wider consultations about how our work across all our buildings (schools, parsonage homes, churches, resources, etc) can possibly be better linked, where we can join up support and advice, and creatively seek out and establish new partnerships.
This post will provide leadership and workload support for the Church Buildings Team and will be key to helping us review, shape, and engage with others, throughout our consultation processes hence current fixed term nature.
- Understanding of the mission of the Church with a passion for churches buildings in our communities, being able to articulate the heritage they represent, and their challenges to us today.
- Graduate or equivalent, ideally in an architecture/planning/heritage/conservation related subject.
- Experience of management in a Planning or Conservation Practice context.
- Good knowledge of both secular and ecclesiastical architecture and art history.
