Wrexham County Borough Council: Traditional Building Skills Officer

A Traditional Building Skills Officer is required to work within the multi-disciplinary Strategy & Development Team tasked with supporting key functions within the Housing & Economy Department. The Traditional Building Skills Officer will be tasked with leading and delivering work on the Council’s Traditional building skills programme across Wrexham by working with partner organisations, construction companies, community groups, building owners to give specialist conservation advice and to promote awareness, understanding and informed comment on traditional building skills and built conservation theory and practice and knowledge of materials, techniques and design theory, which needs to be delivered within a fixed term. The Post will also take responsibility for ensuring there is alignment with other key plans and strategies; including but not limited to the Council Plan, North Wales Economic Ambition Board’s Regional Skills and Employment Plan (2017), Strategic Skills Partnership Agreement (CADW, CITB). The post is based in Ruthin Road.

Knowledge of working within the construction industry delivering heritage-led regeneration/conservation programmes and best practice in conservation repair and an ability to work flexibly and creatively is essential. Welsh speaking would be desirable for this role.

This is a temporary, fixed-term position until 31st March 2021.

Tasgau’r Swyddog sgiliau Adeiladu Traddodiadol yw arwain a darparu gwaith ar raglen sgiliau adeiladu traddodiadol y Cyngor ar draws Wrecsam gan weithio gydag asiantaethau partner, cwmnïau adeiladu, grwpiau cymunedol a pherchnogion adeiladau i roi cyngor cadwraeth arbenigol ac i hybu ymwybyddiaeth, dealltwriaeth a sylwadau gwybodus ar sgiliau adeiladu traddodiadol a theori ac ymarfer cadwraeth a gwybodaeth am ddeunyddiau, technegau a theori dylunio y mae’n rhaid eu darparu o fewn cyfnod penodol.
