Joining our team you will help shape the North West`s historic environment for the future. This is a dynamic region from beautiful Cheshire plains in the south to Cumbria and the Borderlands in the North and the heartland of the industrial revolution in Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire. We provide advice across the region and in this role you will have the opportunity to have a direct impact on influencing change. The role will enable you to facilitate and see through change and be part of creative and sustainable outcomes that enhance and rejuvenate our historic areas. As part of our wider collaborative approach you will be a key member of the Partnerships Team and the wider North West Team delivering the High Street Heritage Action Zones and those already established.

As our new Historic Places Adviser, you will be an advocate of `constructive conservation`, Working in partnership with local authorities, communities and other third sector organisations to champion historic places and the potential to enhance local historic areas, you will give advice to those who are seeking to change and find solutions to tricky issues in important historic places. You will also focus on heritage action zones, in particular the High Street heritage actions zones and also provide an input to master plans and neighbourhood plans. Bringing about partnerships and facilitating them are vital to the role.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience either within a commercial practice or local authority and have a proven track record in managing positive change to historic places. With considerable experience of the successful application of current legislation, guidance and policy to manage historic places, you also have practical expertise and specialist knowledge of applying urban design principles to area-based strategies. A strong team player with good interpersonal skills, you will enjoy working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
