This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop a heritage career within a busy and ambitious local authority located in North Surrey.
We are looking for a confident, self-motivated individual to join our Heritage team within Planning Services. The team looks after a large number of historic assets including Listed Buildings, Locally Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas and Historic Parks. These are recognised as the Borough’s “Crown Jewels” and we are committed to delivering the Borough’s Heritage Strategy as well as helping planning colleagues to protect and enhance our historic environment. We also work with a number of other national and local organisations to deliver successful heritage initiatives including Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans.
To be successful in this interesting and varied role, you will need to either have a degree in Historic Conservation, be part way through an IHBC recognised course or be prepared to study for a post-graduate qualification. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding and/or experience of built heritage conservation and planning and be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, elected members and the public. You will be expected to be well organised, competent in the use of IT, have excellent communication and research skills and be committed to delivering high quality customer service.
