Opportunity in an unrivalled Cathedral city
An opportunity has arisen to work within our busy Conservation & Design Team on matters related to heritage, conservation and urban design within the district council.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Historic Buildings Adviser to contribute to the Conservation and Design Team. Our aim is to ensure that we sustain and enhance the character of the district, and improve the historic environment for residents and visitors alike.

The role will give an excellent opportunity to engage with a wide range of heritage projects in our policy/planning work, and to meet many different external groups and organisations.

To fulfil this role, you will have a degree in conservation of the built historic environment or a related discipline with a sound grasp of planning legislation and policies.  Membership of the IHBC is essential. You must have a good working knowledge of historic buildings from the 16th to 20th centuries: their development, materials, the design principles involved in their alteration or extension and alteration, and the best-practice repair techniques.

You will have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and experience of writing documents to a high standard. You must be able to work independently to tight deadlines.  Previous experience of working in the conservation in a Local Authority is essential.

For more information about this post, please contact Mrs. Anna-Marie Pagano,

Principal Conservation and Design Officer (01243) 534-861.
