I volunteer with the Glaslyn Osprey Project, watching over the longestestablished osprey nest inWales. Our many visitors are fascinated to hear that the female (‘Mrs G’) has been nesting here since 2004, has had two partners and has successfully raised over 40 chicks. The hide also has the best views of Snowdon and views of the Welsh Highland Railway and its collection of Beyer Garratt Engines, should you ever tire of ospreys. What organisations are you a member of? Professionally I am a member of the RIBA, ARB and IHBC. I am a trustee of the Historic Houses Foundation, which gives grants to historic buildings, chair of Shropshire Parks and Gardens Trust, and a member of the RSPB, Glaslyn Ospreys, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, National Trust, English Heritage and RHS. Which one issue would you particularly like the IHBC to campaign on? How historic buildings can respond to climate change. We know that some historic buildings perform better than the statistics would have us believe, but we also know that many do not. The IHBC could take the lead in finding sensible, pragmatic and properly researched solutions to improving their energy performance. Mary King is an architect and historic environment consultant with the King Partnership. Mrs G (Photo: Glaslyn Osprey Project)
