Coursework into cash, courtesy IHBC – 2018 IHBC Student Award closes 31 July: £500+ of prizes due Nottingham, June 2019 

logoThe IHBC’s Annual Gus Astley Student Award for 2018 closes on 31 July, so if you have ANY heritage or existing built environment related coursework from ANY UK taught course – under-graduate or post-graduate, from 2017 OR 2108 – be sure to submit it online and on time to secure your chance of receiving a prize at the IHBC’s Annual School in Nottingham in July 2019, all courtesy IHBC.

For the 2018 Award, as ever, a cash prize of £500 is on offer to the winner, with smaller cash awards to any commended entries.  Free places at the IHBC’s 2019 Annual School, valued at around £500, are also on offer – supported by the Gus Astley Fund that gives the award its name – to help awardees receive their prizes in person during the School Dinner in Nottingham in July 2019.

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘For the 2018 Award, as ever, a cash prize of £500 is on offer to the winner, with smaller cash awards to any commended entries.’

‘All awards also include a very special opportunity: the chance of free places at the IHBC’s Annual School, valued at around £500, in Nottingham in July 2019.’

Some details of the IHBC Student Awards for 2018:

  • The Student Award is presented for an outstanding item of taught-coursework accepted as part of either under-graduate or post-graduate courses ending in the academic years either to 31 July 2017 OR 31 July 2018.
  • The subject should relate to one aspect or more of ‘Built or Historic Environment Conservation’ in its widest sense, including, for example, its evaluation (eg history, research or surveying), management (eg policy, finance, planning or operations such as site management), and/ or intervention (eg design, technology or architecture).
  • Submission for this award is ONLY possible online, but if your coursework can’t be easily digitised, we’re happy to receive a suitable digital record of it, such as a film record, just as long as the record can be authenticated by your course tutor in accordance with our guidance.
