IHBC OPENS Belfast 2018 ‘School’ booking: Secure low-cost ‘early-bird’ places and share heritage, conservation and EYCH 2018 across CPD talks, tours and networks, June 21/22/23!

The IHBC has opened booking for the next in its celebrated series of Schools – in Belfast on 21-23 June, on ‘Sharing’ – and with our ‘early bird’ fees, bursaries, low-cost residential options and diverse study tours, you can access some of the best value heritage learning and CPD around – up to 24 hours over the 3-day Full School, including networking, or up to 9 hours for the Day School and AGM.

IHBC Northern Ireland Branch Chair and lead organizer Andrew McClelland said: ‘The School’s keynote speakers represent the blend of local and international content that will pervade the programme, and with the new pages on School speakers and early links to topic areas, delegates now have plenty of detail to see its specific CPD benefits, and shape their arrangements accordingly.’

James Caird, IHBC Chair, said: ‘I’ve been lucky enough to be able to attend the Annual School every year for over a decade. They are a really good way of keeping up-to-date on all the latest in conservation and professional practice as well as an opportunity to keep up with old friends and colleagues and forge new professional networks.’

‘In these days of low resources, this event is increasingly relevant and cost-effective, especially given our flexible programme options. Remember too that getting to Belfast is neither especially expensive nor difficult – it has good flight and ferry connections from most parts of the UK, as our travel guidance indicates.’

IHBC Education Secretary Andrew Shepherd said: ‘It is never too early to sort your plans for the IHBC Annual School, and this is especially important for bursary applicants, as competition for the available funds is strong.’

‘These website shows an exciting programme with inspirational keynote speakers, talks, tours and more, so if you do need the bursary support to get there, start following the web guidance promptly, and with care. Remember too that our Branches also offer bursary support, and you can find out more from them direct by following the online links.’

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘For bursaries this year we are offering free places at the School, 16 in all, rather than combining support for places with travel costs, to make application simpler.  And do follow the online guidance carefully, otherwise your chances of success are slim – both as an applicant and as practitioner – as negotiations on funding remain a core skill for all our members.’

‘Also we’ve substantially upgraded our online CPD support, as a taster for the future, so be sure to make early and full use of the CPD references, links and area guidance, as well as our social media, to make the best of another unique IHBC learning experience.’
