We are looking for someone to provide conservation and design policy advice, advice on the acceptability of planning submissions and to secure improvements to development proposals.  With the ability to engage effectively with decision makers inside and outside the Council, you will have a key role in ensuring that the Council’s environmental priorities are met.

Working as part of the Consultancy Team, you will be responsible for delivering the heritage objectives of the Local Plan and provide specialist advice on conservation and design issues for the Borough Council and its partners, including other district councils or partner agencies.

You must be educated to a degree level in a relevant built environment field such as architecture, building conservation, urban design or planning and have or be working towards membership of IHBC, RIBA or MRTPI. Familiarity with the planning system and knowledge of the legislation and guidance relating to listed buildings and conservation areas are essential.  You must also have the ability to apply sound design principles and solve problems creatively. You will have substantial experience of the planning system and have excellent communication and analytical skills.  Current driving licence is essential.
