This is a fantastic time to lead archaeological work in the North York Moors. We have one of the highest densities of Scheduled Monuments in England and 1000s of other non-designated sites covering the period from the end of the last ice age all the way through to 20th century military remains.
Other highlights include; two active HLF Landscape Partnership Schemes both of which have exciting cultural heritage elements; delivering our third Historic England funded MMS which has showcased best practice approaches to getting monuments off the Risk Register while working closely with volunteers and land managers. Our Business Plan also has exciting plans for engaging people with our wonderful cultural heritage.
We are looking for a new person to help us drive forward this area of work. You’ll need to have;
- A positive outlook and a drive to get things done.
- A real dynamism for delivery complementing sound professional judgement;
- An enthusiasm for working with volunteers and communities;
- A track record of successful external fund-raising; and
- An understanding of the latest techniques and technologies to interpret our archaeological resource.
You’ll find that you are working with skilled, dedicated and supportive colleagues; and there will be chance to take advantage of our excellent personal development and flexible working opportunities.
The National Park and surrounding area is a superb place to live and work with excellent schools and good access to main transportation links. The post is based at the Authority’s Headquarters in the attractive town of Helmsley.
