We are the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand value and care for them.
Historic England`s Planning Group is responsible for the delivery of expert advice and grants to protect and save significant historic buildings, monuments, parks and gardens, and other heritage assets. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Heritage at Risk (HAR) team in York as a Landscape Architect.
You will be a key member of the Heritage at Risk team securing the future of endangered sites across Yorkshire.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, has strong negotiation and communication skills, comfortable engaging with a wide range of our customers and who will work closely with colleagues to develop appropriate repair and management solutions for sites. You will have an excellent knowledge of historic designed landscapes and experience of current countryside and land management.
The condition of many archaeological sites is threatened by agricultural practices and we work closely with Natural England and estate managers to secure their long term future through land management. This therefore is an opportunity to shape the way we preserve historic landscapes for future generations.
The post will cover Historic England`s Yorkshire region and will be based at our office in central York.
If you have the skills and enthusiasm, we would love to hear from you. We are happy to discuss a flexible working arrangement with the right candidate.
We offer a wide benefits package including a competitive pension scheme, 28 days holiday plus public holidays (pro-rata), corporate discounts, free entry to English Heritage Trust sites as well as the flexibility in your working day that creates a strong work-life balance.
