The New Forest has a distinctive local character made up of 600+ listed buildings and 20 Conservation Areas, as well as many varied locally important features. We have an exciting opportunity to work within a National Park with one of the highest caseloads in England and we are looking for an individual with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and an ability to negotiate to achieve objectives.
You will have a passion for the built environment and display a positive approach to safeguarding the National Park’s outstanding built heritage. You will be skilled at assessing development proposals and discussing alternative ideas with applicants and agents. The role involves public engagement and consultation on initiatives to protect the built heritage of the New Forest as part of the Authority’s busy Policy team. There will also be the co-ordination of a current Heritage Lottery project to develop skills and understanding of heritage across the Park.
You will be able to demonstrate post qualification experience in a building design/conservation role and ideally be a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).
