Sadly they did not appear. The dinner and the hotel service were very efficient and charming. One waitress impressed us so much with her constant attention, she seemed to be everywhere. When the staff appeared from the kitchen to receive a welldeserved round of applause, we realised there were actually two of her. Twins! After dinner the President gave a word of thanks to all the organisers, expressing again our enjoyment of Llandudno and all it had to offer. He handed the microphone over to Trefor Thorpe, this year’s judge of the Gus Astley Student Awards. Trefor gave an entertaining romp through this year’s submissions. We were dazzled by the depth of study, breadth of subjects and commitment shown by the candidates. Each year this is one of the parts of the Annual School that we should cherish and celebrate with enthusiasm and optimism. While we continue to have submissions of such quality we can relax a little about the future of the membership.
